# Explore Palettes

The Explore page showcases a curated collection of real-world palettes drawn from brands, countries, apps, sports teams, universities, and more.

## Browsing palettes

Navigate to **Explore** in the main navigation. Each palette card shows:

- A color bar preview
- The palette name and description
- Tags describing the palette's style or origin

## Categories

Filter palettes by category:

- **Corporate** — Colors from well-known brands and companies.
- **Countries** — Flag-inspired and national color schemes.
- **Apps** — Palettes from popular applications and services.
- **Sports** — Team colors from professional sports.
- **College** — University and college brand colors.
- **Seasonal** — Color schemes inspired by seasons and holidays.
- **Warm & Cool** — Temperature-based collections.
- **Nature** — Colors drawn from natural landscapes, plants, and elements.
- **Curated** — Hand-picked palettes by the PerfectPalette team.
- **Retro** — Vintage and nostalgic color schemes.

## Searching and filtering

- **Text search** — Search by palette name or description.
- **Tags** — Click tags to filter by style. Multiple tags use AND logic (all must match).
- **Color search** — Enter a hex value to find palettes that contain a similar color. Matching uses color distance (Delta-E) with a configurable tolerance.

## Using a palette

Click **Use this palette** on any card to import it directly into the palette editor. This replaces your current working palette with the selected one, so you can analyze, modify, and export it.

## Palette Detail Pages

Click any palette name or color bar on the Explore page to view its detail page. Each palette detail page includes:

- **Color bar hero** with hex values overlaid on each swatch
- **Color details** for each color: nearest named color, hex/RGB/HSL conversions, hue family, and emotion tags from color psychology
- **Contrast accessibility matrix** showing WCAG AA/AAA compliance for every color pair in the palette
- **Social sharing** — copy link, share to Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or Pinterest
- **Pairings from this palette** — two-color pairings that use colors from this palette
- **Related palettes** — palettes in the same category, ranked by shared tags and colors

Each palette detail page has a unique OG image for social sharing, showing the color bar and palette name.

## Perfect Pairings

The **Perfect Pairings** section (`/explore/pairings`) showcases curated two-color combinations with proven contrast and harmony. Each pairing features:

- A split-card visual showing both colors with their names in opposing colors
- WCAG contrast ratio and compliance level (AA/AAA)
- Color details: hex, RGB, and HSL values
- A sharable social card (automatically generated OG image)

### Filtering pairings

Filter by category (Complementary, Analogous, Monochrome, Bold, etc.) or WCAG level (AA+, AAA) using the pill buttons at the top of the page.

### Pairing detail pages

Click any pairing card to view full details including color breakdowns, contrast accessibility info, and related pairings in the same category.

## Pagination

Palettes are shown 48 per page. Use the pagination controls to browse the full collection.
